HAPPY (NORDSTROM) ANNIVERSARY!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

When fall items are stocked

But the prices are docked

To bring shoppers good cheer!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

OK, perhaps that’s a little dramatic. But I don’t think it an overstatement to say that the Nordstrom anniversary sale is one of the most anticipated sale events of the year. This is when new fall season items arrive and are put on sale for a couple of weeks before the witching hour, when the prices increase back to full retail. This is a good time to get those big ticket items, stock up on staples or try out a brand you’ve been eyeing.

Early access to the sale for Nordstrom card holders started 13 July, it opens up for everyone 21 July and it ends 6 August. Things do sell out, which can be disconcerting if you are not a cardholder, but because these are new season items, Nordstrom restocks.

I didn’t have anything in particular in mind when perusing the sale, but I did get my hands what I think will be some great pieces. I’ll also share the things on my watch (a.k.a probably gonna get) list.

WHAT I ORDERED

First, this dress. A wrap dress is one of those silhouettes that flatters many body types. It can accentuate the waist of someone who has one and create one for someone who doesn’t. The v-neck suits both larger and smaller chests. I love this update of the a classic with plush velvet. The color is rich and autumnal (though, I’ll wear it whenever I fancy). Ramp up the sexy with strappy heels for a night out, give it some edge with chunky ankle boots, or pair it with tennies for a casual, but effortlessly chic look.

WAYF Next to You Velvet Wrap Dress
Sale: $78.90, After Sale: $119.00

Cardigans are part of my fall uniform. They are often the thing that pulls my outfit together while offering the practicality of warmth without having to lug around a jacket. A cardigan without buttons lends nicely to fastening with an ornate brooch while this one with the snaps… well, if you watch my videos, you know how much a love a good snap!

BP. Lightweight Rib Stitch Cardigan
Sale: $31.90, After Sale: $49.00
LEITH Shawl Collar Cardigan
Sale: $52.90, After Sale: $79.00

I have been wanting to try this rubber slides trend. They’re basically pool shoes but have been enjoying their moment in the sun. One of my besties got these fabulous Gucci slides that made me want leap on the bandwagon. But my not knowing if they would fit into my wardrobe, I wanted to try it on the cheap. And the sale delivered. These pink Pumas are so adorable and even if I decide not to wear them out of the house, they’ll be my summer house slippers.

PUMA Leadcat Logo Slide Sandal;                                                             Sale: $25.90, After Sale: $39.95

A scarf is invaluable in the fall and can add a stylish pop to an outfit. I love the pleats and colors in this beauty and I imagine wearing this tied around my neck like a choker. Très French.

HALOGEN® Pleated Scarf

If I were a home good, I imagine I would be a chandelier, dripping with crystals and sparkle. So when I saw these earrings in the catalog I received in the mail, I dogeared the page knowing this was going to be a must-have. I will wear this with holiday party outfits, but trust that you’ll see me sporting these on a grocery run.

CRISTABELLE Drama Earrings
Sale: $37.90, After Sale: $58.00

WHAT I’M EYEING UP

I love plaid shirts. If you get one made of soft, draping fabric, they can be part of a laid back but pulled together ensemble. I have a couple cheap and cheerful versions from Old Navy but I keep hearing people rave about the Rails brand. I’ve felt them. They are lovely and soft. Mayhaps I’ll bite now that there’d be a nice discount.

This photos does not do this fantastic button up justice. I saw it in store. The pattern is dizzying and I like it. And the fit is beautiful. It’s a fabulous top!

EQUIPMENT Signature Stripe Cotton Shirt

My brother has tried to convince me of the virtues of an expensive jean. My absolute favorite jean brand is the BDG line from Urban Outfitters. But I hear tell that some of the higher end jeans fit well and are made of the softest, finest denim and that AG jeans are some of the best. Tempted…

AG The Legging Raw Hem Ankle Skinny Jeans

I love this hem that is cut on the bias. Maybe I’ll buy them, maybe I’ll DIY them.

I hope that gives you an idea of some of the treats you can score during Anniversary. If anyone has purchased or is thinking about purchasing some items, I’d love to know. Leave a link or a comment. Here’s to stocking up and sticking out!

Peace Yinz,

Dita
